Youth Center Calendar 2007-2008
Youth Center programs are free and open to middle and high school age youth.
Summer Drop-in Hours: Mon. Thurs. Fri. 12:30-6:30. Tuesday 12:30-5:00. Wednesday 12:30-5:30.
Youth Advisory Board (YAB)takes place on Wednesdays at 5:30.
Each week, young leaders from the community convene to determine future programs, workshops, events, and outreach activities for the Youth Center. If you would like to apply for a YAB position, contact the Youth Center Program Manager Laura Cloak at 303.926.0306.
Summer Movie Night! Hosted by YAB Tuesdays at 3:00 and Thursdays at 4:00. Call the Youth Center for more information on upcoming movies.
Summer Youth Center Workshops Some workshops have limited space, so contact Laura ASAP for more information or to sign up! manager@project-yes.org and include "workshop sign-up" in your subject line!
Also, the Youth Center may be closed during certain workshops. Please call ahead to find out!
Thursdays from 10:30 to 4:00: Organic Farming with Abondonza Farms. Thomas Open Space, Lafayette.
Thursday, July 17th 3-4:30: Creative Writing. This is the first workshop in a continuing series (other Creative Writing workshops yet to be determined).
Monday, July 21st, 3-5:30 pm: Slam Poetry. Wednesday, July 23rd, 3-5:30 pm: Slam Poetry Part II Participants will create their own original poetry and learn how to speak it out loud to an audience. The workshop will culminate in a Slam Poetry competition, date to be determined.
Thursday July 24th-Friday July 25th: 24-Hour Film Festival and Shoot-out. See "News" For more details.
Monday, August 4th, 1-4 pm: Acting Improvisation. Participants will learn about the art of improvisation and will bring it full-circle as topics relate to their own lives. Check back soon for more details.
Monday-Wednesday August 25th, 26th, and 27th: Aztec Dance. Check back later for more details!
Showcase for summer workshops as well as Individual Development will be held sometime in August. This will be a chance for youth and local community members to showcase visual arts, performance arts, and creative writing to the public. Prepare to exhibit your own work! Contact Laura or check back soon for more details.
All programs are FREE, but donations are appreciated.
