Project YES Youth Create Public Art in Partnership with the City of Lafayette
Participants in the Fall 2007 Art in the Community program recently completed and unveiled an outdoor bench complete with a mosaic design on the back. It now rests in the northeast corner of Lake Waneka in Lafayette. The project was organized by former Project YES executive director Juliet Biagi and professional muralist Alfredo Ortiz. The young artists examined the topic of change, and how it relates to different individuals within their community and based their design upon these issues. The finished piece- constructed of flagstone from Lyons, Colorado- will serve as a permanent reminder of the power of collaborative action through artwork.
The youth participants presented the Mosaic Bench, entitled "Change for Equality" at the April 28th Project YES Unveiling at Waneka Lake.
