Accessibility

The original version of this web site was created as part of the Rocky Mountain Accessibility Internet Rally held in Denver, Colo., on Dec. 2, 2000. At the rally, web developers from throughout the Front Range came together for a high-energy day of fun and friendly competition to create web sites for metro Denver non-profit organizations.
<p>
The focus of the rally was to create web sites that are accessible to people of all walks of life, including people who have visual, mobility, learning and/or hearing impairments.
<p>
To that end, the original Project-YES web site included several accessibility features. And when the site was redesigned in 2004, those features were preserved. They include:
<p>

  • "alt" image tags on all images. These tags provide text equivalents for all visuals on the site so that people with impaired vision can get a full understanding of what the site offers.
  • "label" tags on all forms, so that people with visual impairments can fill out and submit the forms without seeing them.
  • a site search function that allows users to easily find whatever they're looking for on the site.
  • multiple options for submitting forms. For example, users can submit the Volunteer Application Form online or via the U.S. Postal Service. They also can choose to make donations and purchase products online or by phone.
  • enlarged images of all products for sale. Each product is shown as a mid-sized image; users can choose to click on the product name or photo to open a new window that displays a much larger photo of the product. The additional window offers a text link that makes it easy to close.
