On January 15, 2007 Project YES hosted its 2nd Annual MLK Day March for Peace

Joining Project YES were hundreds of individuals from the Lafayette community and beyond who gathered in the single digit weather to celebrate the vision of peace, service, and empowerment of Martin Luther King Jr.
The march proceeded up Public Rd. in Lafayette culminating at Pioneer Elementary where marchers warmed themselves while enjoying music and presentations from individuals and groups including the Peacemakers (the event founders) and Ms. Norma Johnson, who recited an original piece recounting her experience as an African American growing up in America.

Thanks to all the amazing folks that made this year's event possible:

City of Lafayette, Pioneer Elementary, Naropa University, AmeriCorps*VISTA, and Kids Park Lafayette.

See you next year!

Identified by the Foothills United Way (FHUW) Community Impact Committee as consistently providing effective leadership programming for Lafayette’s youth, Project YES has been invited to build on its existing partnerships with the YMCA of Boulder Valley and the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD), during the 2006-2009 academic years. Through a three year grant provided by FHUW, Project YES and the YMCA will collaborate with BVSD to address the growing needs of youth and families transitioning from elementary to middle school in the Lafayette community.

While Project YES will expand and enhance existing after-school service-learning programs at Escuela Bilingue Pioneer, Ryan Elementary, Sanchez Elementary, Lafayette Elementary and Angevine Middle School, the YMCA will provide support for the families of participating third through fifth grade students through educational and recreational opportunities.
