Sign up for the Semester of Service Serve-a-thon!
Young people are volunteering at record rates in America, more than any generation in history! The semester of service initiative taps into that amazing energy, idealism, creativity, and commitment over an extended period of time to address some of the most intractable problems facing our world. In 2o10, Youth Service America and the Corporation for National and Community Service are encouraging sutdents, ages 5-25, to develop or participate in semester long service projects that launch on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and culminate on Global Youth Service Day, April 23rd-25th.
To participate in this national initiative, Project YES is organizing a Semester of Service Serve-a-thon for individuals of all ages in Boulder County. It is our hope that the Serve-a-thon will encourage long-term committment to making a difference in our community!
Follow the steps below to get involved:
Step 1: Obtain a Serve-a-thon tracking sheet HERE, and Serve-a-thon
pledge sheet HERE or at Project YES
Step 2: Secure at least 10 pledges that will sponsor your service hours
Step 3: Track your service hours at school, home, church, at Project YES, or
anywhere else you perform service over this semester
Step 4: Collect your pledges
Step 5: Register for SeLebration: A Day of Service, Learning, and Fun on the
Project YES website
Step 6: Turn in your form and all of your pledges to Project YES no later than
Friday, April 16th, 2010
Step 7: Pat yourself on the back for making a big difference in your
community!
Step 8: Attend SeLebration to complete your final 2.5 hours of service and
receive your recognition
Please turn in your tracking sheet and pledges to Project YES by April 16th. The pledges to sponsor your service will go directly to Project YES to support our organization in serving over 1,000 young people every year through free after-school programming and large-scale events. Serve-a-thon participants will be recognized at SeLebration 2010 on April, 24th. We hope you will particpate in the Serve-a-thon to contribute to a cause you care about and support Project YES!
